2 DIY Bracelets, Honey Cleanser + Confessions

February flew by in a flash, didn’t it? Despite my love of Valentine’s Day, this is usually my least favorite month – it’s just too cold and dreary. So yay for March! This will be a busy month with lots of birthdays, spring break and my first trip to Disney World with the kids (gulp).  I have some fun ‘get ready for spring’ tutorials and DIYs coming up this month. But first, yay for Friday!
DIY Bracelet with Beads and Hex Nuts   Hardware Bracelet DIY
Bead and Hex Nut Bracelets | I finally found a way to combine my love of beads and hex nuts into one piece of jewelry. Oh, and spikes too. This is pretty darn easy to make with a bit of Stretch Magic, but you can check out the full tutorial on Made by Girl.

DIY Brooch Bracelet DIY Bracelet with Old Brooches

Brooch Bracelet | I have a ton of old brooches from my mom and grandmom that I never wear. But they are so sparkly and colorful I feel I should be wearing them. So basically I made this Anthro inspired ribbon wrapped bracelet so I could stop feeling guilty.

Honey Cleanser

Raw Honey Face Wash | I’ve been intrigued with the idea of washing my face with honey since Erica mentioned it a while back. Have you ever tried it? So far it feels both weird and a little delicious – we’ll see how it goes!

5 Confessions | The lovely Lauren asked me to share 5 things I’m embarrassed to admit as part of her confessions series. Because we all know real life is nothing like it’s portrayed in blogland, right? Here is my photography “set up” (if you could call it that) where I take 90% of my pictures. In a tiny room on a tiny table, trying to avoid garbage cans and a dying plant. But it was really fun when we had Henry’s train table in there.

Love the beads and hex nut bracewlets and the brooch idea is great. I have a beautiful little pin that a friend gave me and the pin itself is gone so it will be perfect for this project. Thanks for the idea.

I started washing my face w/honey a couple months ago. I LOVE it. I usually keep it on my face for a few minutes to 20 mins 2x a day. It has worked wonders on my skin. Soft, supple, hydrated, clear. I don’t think I’ll ever wash my face w/out honey again. wonderful stuff :)

Wow, that’s so great to hear! And it’s nice that it turns into an instant face mask if you have the time!

LOVE, LOVE the brooch bracelet! Also, where did you find the spikes…online or in a store?
PS -guess who scored a pair of Colbalt blue Polo jeans ($11 at Sears on clearance)…ME! :-)
    Thanks for the inspirations!

Ohh, that is a good score! Love those clearance finds. And I got the spikes at Hobby Lobby – they have little packages that include 2 sizes of spikes for about $2 I think. Hope you’re having a good weekend Deb!!

Love it! I’ve got some hex nuts downstairs that I set aside for jewelry making too! My goal for March is to finally reopen my Etsy jewelry shop. This is great inspiration!

Also, I’ve been wondering about honey facials! I keep hearing great things about them but have been nervous to try (my skin is SO sensitive!). Keep us posted on what you think about it!

The brooch bracelet is so pretty! Never tried washing my face with honey……kind of reminds me of the time I took a whole jar of mayo to the shower to use as a mask for my hair( don’t worry I tossed the jar afterwards!). Felt weird!

  6. says

I don’t wash my face with honey, but I do use it as a spot treatment and slather it all over my face once a week as a mask. It’s messy, but it works so well! I loved your confessions–I think I’m doing a frozen pizza for dinner tonight too. :)

A honey mask sounds so darn good – I’m going to have to try that! And we may be doing frozen pizza tonight too :)

I spotted the same honey cleanser idea on Crunchy Betty. I’ve been washing my face with honey for about a week now and love it. It feels weird when I put it on, but smells wonderful, and I’ve noticed my skin is starting to feel softer, too. I hope it goes well for you!

I love seeing where people take pictures. I am slowly working on our dining and master, plus we are getting our garden ready. I am delving into some art projects. I have not drawn or painted since I was in junior high. We will see. I love your jewelry tutorials.

I love the idea of wearing a brooch on a ribbon bracelet Steph. And those spikey bead and hex nut bracelets are awesome. At least you have a designated photo area. Mine is usually ON the rubbish bins! LOL (kidding, sometimes)
